Day 1: Arrive in Accra

Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, you’ll proceed through immigration, claim your luggage, clear customs, and meet your expert cultural tour guide. Your guide will transfer you to your hotel in Accra, where you’ll receive a briefing on the exciting activities that await.

Day 2: Accra City Tour

Following a leisurely breakfast, you’ll embark on an introductory tour of Accra. Your first stop will be the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, a 5.4-acre facility built in 1992 to honour Ghana’s first president. Kwame Nkrumah Museum, The Kwame Nkrumah Museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah. The museum features exhibits on Nkrumah’s life, including his early years, education, and political career.

Next, you’ll visit the Accra Arts & Crafts Centre, where you can shop for unique handicrafts and admire the art galleries.

Visit Independence Square next. It is a historic site that commemorates Ghana’s independence from British colonial rule on March 6, 1957. The square features the Independence Arch, the Black Star Gate, and the Independence Monument.

Makola Market is one of the busiest and most vibrant markets in Accra, offering a wide range of goods, including traditional clothing, crafts, and food. Visitors can explore the market stalls, sample local cuisine, and interact with vendors.

James Town is a historic neighbourhood in Accra that dates back to the 17th century. Visitors can explore the town’s narrow streets, visit the James Town Lighthouse, and see the historic Ussher Fort.

Your day will conclude with a visit to the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre which is a museum and research centre dedicated to the life and legacy of the African-American scholar and activist W.E.B. Du Bois. The centre features exhibits on Du Bois’ life, including his work on Pan-Africanism and his connections to Ghana.

Day 3: Cape Coast Castle and Light House

Morning: Visit Cape Coast Castle, Today, you’ll visit the Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The castle is a thought-provoking monument to a harrowing period in the region’s history. You’ll take an emotional journey through the castle, viewing the dungeons and the infamous “Door of No Return.

We later visit the Cape Coast Lighthouse which is a historic lighthouse that offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding coastline. The lighthouse provides insight into Ghana’s maritime history and the importance of the sea in the country’s economy.

Day 4: Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park

Visit Elmina Castle in the morning: Elmina Castle is a historic fortification located in Elmina, Ghana. It’s one of the oldest European buildings in sub-Saharan Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Elmina Castle was constructed in 1482 by the Portuguese as a trading post and fortification. The castle played a significant role in the gold trade between Europe and Africa. Unfortunately, the castle was also used as a slave fort, with thousands of enslaved Africans being held captive and transported to the Americas.

Afternoon: Head to Kakum National Park, The Park’s famous canopy walkway offers breath-taking views of the rainforest from 40 meters above the ground.

Diverse Wildlife: Kakum is home to over 400 species of birds, 600 species of butterflies, and numerous mammals, including monkeys, antelopes, and elephants.

Hiking Trails: Visitors can explore the park’s hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging, to discover the unique flora and fauna of the rainforest.

Day 5: Asin Manso Slave River and Kumasi

Morning: Visit Assin Manso Slave River, also known as the “Donkor Nsuo,” is a sacred site where enslaved Africans were bathed and prepared for the transatlantic slave trade.

The site features a memorial to honour the victims of the slave trade and a museum to educate visitors about the history of slavery in Ghana

The River is surrounded by lush vegetation and features small waterfalls, making it a scenic and peaceful spot for reflection

We later continue to Kumasi Cultural Center, The Kumasi Cultural Centre, also known as the National Cultural Centre, is a hub for promoting and preserving Ghanaian culture, particularly that of the Ashanti people.

The centre has a museum showcasing Ashanti artefacts, including gold weights, traditional clothing, and wood carvings.

Craft Village: Visitors can explore the craft village, where local artisans demonstrate traditional crafts like woodcarving, weaving, and pottery.

Theatre: The centre has a theatre hosting traditional dance and music performances, as well as contemporary shows.

The centre offers traditional Ghanaian cuisine and drinks, as well as a bar serving local beers and cocktails.

Day 6: Manshya Palace, Museum, and Okomfo Anokye sword site

Visit Manshya Palace and Museum in the morning. The Palace is the Seat of the Ashanti Kingdom: Manhyia Palace is the official residence of the Ashanti king, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II.The palace has a museum showcasing Ashanti artifacts, including gold jewelry, traditional clothing, and historic photographs.

Day 7: Kumasi Craft Village

Visit three craft villages in the lush countryside surrounding Kumasi. Explore Bonwire, renowned for its traditional Kente Cloth production, Ntonso, famous for its Adinkra Textiles, and Ahwiaa, a hub for skilled woodcarvers.

Day 8: Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary and Mole National Park

Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary home to Mona Monkeys: The sanctuary is a protected area for Mona monkeys and other wildlife, including birds, butterflies, and trees.The sanctuary is managed by the local community, providing income and employment opportunities for residents. Visitors learning about the monkeys’ behavior, habitat, and conservation efforts.

 

Mole National Park

Mole National Park is the largest national park in Ghana, covering an area of approximately 4,840 square kilometres. The park is home to a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, antelopes, monkeys, and over 300 species of birds.

Visitors can take guided safari tours, either on foot or by vehicle, to explore the park’s diverse habitats and spot wildlife.

Leather Factory, Visit a local leather factory, where you can see traditional leatherwork techniques in action. Browse the factory’s selection of handmade leather goods, including shoes, bags, and belts.

Day 12: Wli Agumatsa

Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls is the highest waterfall in Ghana, with a stunning 60-meter drop. The waterfall has two sections, the upper falls and the lower falls, creating a breath-taking spectacle. Visitors can hike to the waterfall, exploring the surrounding tropical forest and enjoying the scenic views. The waterfall creates a natural swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip on a hot day. The falls are surrounded by a picnic area, where visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery. The Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls is considered sacred by the local community, who believe it has healing properties. Day 13: Tagbo Falls Falls and Amedzope Mountain

  • Cancellations received within 30 days of arrival will incur the following fees:
  • – 30 days prior to departure: 20% of the total tour cost
  • – Less than 23 days prior to departure: 25% of the total tour cost
  • – Less than 14 days prior to departure: 50% of the total tour cost
  • – No-show: 100% of the total tour cost
  • – Tour company reserves right to cancel tour due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest).
